Compression Release Kit
Designed for Harley-Davidson Evolution and Twin Cam engines using ¾” reach spark plugs.
Why Use a Compression Release?
Over time, Harley engines can become harder to start. Many riders upgrade to high-torque starters or higher amp batteries after the originals wear out.
While those upgrades can help, they don’t address the real issue — engine compression during startup.
A Compression Release Kit reduces just enough compression during cranking to make a noticeable difference:
• Easier starting
• Less strain on your starter
• Reduced load on your battery
Instead of forcing your starter to fight full compression, this allows the engine to spin more freely when it matters most.
Do I Need One or Two Kits?
In most applications, only one Compression Release Kit is needed to see a significant improvement.
Even a slight reduction in compression makes a big difference, which is why many riders start with one.
Some riders choose to run with two kits for maximum resluts, but this is not required.
Install on either cylinder front or rear whichever is most convenient.
How It Works
Before starting, press the cap down on the compression release.
Start the engine.
After the initial compression stroke, the release automatically closes and the cap pops back up.
